Amazing memory
Once upon a time a renunciant and his disciple were sitting in a library of
an Ashram. The library had just ordered volumes of Encyclopedia. Looking at
those brand new volumes the disciple smilingly said –
Disciple: I don’t think anybody will ever finish reading these volumes in a
lifetime.
Renunciant : Why? I have already finished ten of them.
Disciple: Really? I can’t believe this.
Renunciant : You may ask me anything from those ten volumes.
With great amazement the disciple decided to test his Guru. He started asking
various tough concepts and questions from those volumes. At his surprise his
Guru was giving each and every answer correctly. At many places he was
recollecting the sentences exactly as it is. What a memory!
Such a memory is rare in normal human beings. Note that when I say memory I
am not referring just to “information storage”; I am also referring to the
ability to analyze and synthesize it. Yogis say that such a memory can be
developed with concentration and meditation techniques. Of course, you need to
strictly follow certain disciplines and sadhana.
I often come across developers who complain about huge number of .NET
namespace and class names and difficulty in remembering them :-) Yoga can help
them too.
BTW: This was a real story and the name of the renunciant was Swami
Vivekananda.
