Preparatory Practices for Nadashravana Kriya

Om Chanting

  • Sit comfortably in any meditative posture
  • Close your eyes
  • Start chanting Om loudly
  • Chanting should be done in steady voice
  • As you chant feel the vibrations of Om
  • They arise from navel and fill the whole body progressively (especially the vibrations of mmmmm... produce a great feeling)
  • Keep chanting for 5 minutes initially gradually increasing the time to 15 minutes

Nadashravana Basic Practice

Nadashravana Kriya puts strain on your hands. This preparatory practice can be used in initial stages:

  • Sit in a chair in front of a table
  • Place your elbows on the table
  • Place your palms firmly on the ears
  • Try listening to the humming sound produced
  • If you are unable to hear any sound you can chant Om and focus on that sound instead
  • Do this practice for 10 minutes or so
